书面表达:

Dear Mr Jackson,

I’m Li Hua, chairman of the Students’ Union. Recently our school will hold a composition competition relating to environment protection. And I’d like you to be our judge.

As you know, owing to the wrongly tree-cutting, birds have no place to live; sheep keep eating before weeds can grow up; rivers are polluted by waste water coming from some factories. All of these are doing great harm to our environment. Therefore, we hold this competition in order to raise students’ awareness to protect our environment and make it a better place to live in. Our competition will be held on October 15. We’re looking forward to your coming.

Sincerely yours

Li Hua

Text 1

M: Well, I’ll go off to take my second test of the day! I can’t believe we had three yesterday!
W: Yeah. But just one more tomorrow, we will be done for the week.

Text 2

W: I can’t believe you cooked supper! You’re really growing up, aren’t you, Sam?
M: It was easy, Mom. It’s only noodles and meatballs.

Text 3

W: Hi, Bill. It’s a perfect spring day. Jill and I are going to fly kites in the park. Want to come?
M: Great idea. Let’s meet at 9:00 at Chaoyang Park. We could have lunch at the park, and then we can meet my parents in Sanlitun for an afternoon movie.

Text 4

M: Happy birthday, Cindy! I got you this book of true crime stories. I know that’s your favorite.
W: It used to be. I’m really into romance novels now, although I sometimes like reading poetry. But that’s still so thoughtful of you!

Text 5

M: You just want these cookies? That’ll be five dollars.
W: Can I get these candy bars, too?
M: Sure! That’ll be twelve dollars in total.

Text 6

W: Do you like to watch TV?
M: I like watching TV shows. But I usually watch them on my phone.
W: What kind of shows do you like? Drama? Comedy? The news?
M: I like comedies, but to be honest, I don’t watch too much TV. There are so many other things on the Internet to watch.
W: Like what?
M: I usually watch short videos of people doing funny things, babies laughing, animals playing...stuff like that.

Text 7

W: David, I applied to three different schools, and they all accepted me.
M: Great! Which one would you enjoy more?
W: I think Peking University would be fun, but I would learn the most at Tsinghua University.
M: I see. They’re both good.
W: Well, I think Tsinghua would be the best choice, but I kind of want to get away from Beijing. If I went to Fudan University in Shanghai, I could be more independent.
M: Maybe you should have applied to a university in Guangdong. Then you’d be really far away!

Text 8

M: Look! A 2016 Ford Escape with a CD player, leather seats, and only 20,000 miles on it! The price is only $17,000.
W: That’s too expensive for me. I used to have enough money for a nice car like that. Before I came to New York, everything was great.
M: Are you sorry you came here?
W: No. I have a lot of great opportunities here, but it seems like I never have enough money.
M: I know what you mean. Don’t worry. In a few months, you’ll be able to save money again.
W: But it’s not safe or comfortable for me to take the subway so late at night.
M: So, you’ll have to find a car that is a little older and cheaper.
W: Yeah, I guess I’ll have to.

Text 9

M: What time does your watch say?
W: Ten to eight.
M: Oh, no! My watch is slow again. I thought it was ten to seven.
W: I told you that Apple Watch would not be reliable. My old-fashioned watch is much better.
M: Now I’m going to be late again. I don’t know what I’ll tell the teacher.
W: Since you’re already late, why not stay here and talk with your mom?
M: Mom, you know I’d love to, but I really have to go. Jenny will be back from work at the hospital in a few minutes.
W: You know your sister just eats and goes to bed. I’m just tired of staying home with nothing to do but look at the ceiling.
M: You’ll be better soon, Mom. The doctor says just a few more weeks.
W: It seems like forever. Are you sure you have to go?
M: Yes. I have to go now, or I’ll miss the bus.
W: Stay just a few more minutes, Henry. I’ll pay for you to take a taxi.
M: OK, Mom.

Text 10

Maxine is famous for setting up the first dog shelter in her hometown. It all started when she was walking to school one day when she was ten. She had always wanted a dog, and she saw one outside her school. The dog was friendly, but it was hungry and dirty. She wanted to help the dog, but she had to go to class. In school that day, she read a book about a shelter for pets. It was set up in a small town, and local people paid for it. This gave Maxine an idea. After school, she found the dog and took it home. After she washed it and fed it, it looked happy and cute. Her next-door neighbor asked if she could give the dog to his five-year-old son. After this, Maxine decided to start the Happy Paws Shelter. She gets money from the city government and other dog lovers. And when a family comes and finds a new pet, they sometimes give her money. Maxine hopes to start more dog shelters in small towns nearby before she goes to college next year.
